Wigs for Kids is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing custom, high-quality wigs at no cost to children experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions like cancer or alopecia. Their mission is to restore self-esteem and confidence in young patients, helping them feel more like themselves during a challenging time. In addition to providing wigs, Wigs for Kids helps families with essential expenses like feeding supplies and certain cancer medications not covered by MSP.

Wigs for Kids also fully funds a transportation program that ensures a child and their parent can get to and from the hospital for treatment when they don’t have access to a vehicle. Previously, many families had to rely on public transit after chemo and other cancer treatments.

Another major challenge families face is expenses for medical care outside of BC when treatment isn’t available at BC Children’s Hospital. To address this, Wigs for Kids committed to donating $100,000 annually to assist with travel, accommodation, food, and transportation for children and their families who need to seek treatment in cities like Seattle, Boston, and Chicago.

Run entirely by volunteers with zero overhead, Wigs for Kids BC ensures every dollar raised directly supports BC kids and their families, allowing them to focus on what matters most—helping their child heal.
